Trading Journal

What are 3 types of information found in trade journals?

The 3 types of information found in trade journals are trade data, strategy and market information, and psychological notes. Together, these details give a trader a complete record of each position.

1. Trade data: This includes the entry price, exit price, position size, fees, profit or loss, and R-multiple.

2. Strategy and market information: This covers the trading setup, asset, timeframe, market conditions, indicators, entry signal, and exit plan.

3. Psychological notes: These notes describe emotions, confidence, discipline, hesitation, and whether the trader followed the original trading plan.

Recording all three types makes a trading journal much more useful than a simple list of wins and losses. You can later filter your trades by setup, market condition, strategy, or trading behavior and see where your results are coming from.
